A glimpse of the protected area

The Plain Park will be open to the public every day with a time-table varying for the seasons, except for the months of December, January and August.

During these months visiting the Park will still be possible for observations and photography by contacting the persons in charge of the area or volunteers engaged in its management.

School visits, accompanied by Legambiente volunteers, can be booked for the spring months.

Some of the publications on the area are: "La Piana di Sesto Fiorentino. Valenze e prospettive" (The Plain of Sesto Fiorentino. Values and Prospects) AA.VV. 1999. Ed. Idest, Campi Bisenzio and "L'altra piana. Avifauna e ambienti naturali tra Firenze e Pistoia" (The other plain. Avifauna and natural habitats between Florence and Pistoia). LIPU 1999. Dipartimento dello sviluppo economico, Regione Toscana, Firenze (Department of Economical Development, Region of Tuscany, Florence).

Two pamphlets in a special pack are also available and are given out free on Park opening days or can be requested from the Ufficio Ambiente del Comune di Sesto Fiorentino (Environmental Offices of the Commune of Sesto Fiorentino): "Viaggio nel Parco della Piana" (Journey into the Plain Park) Comune di Sesto Fiorentino 1998. Ed. Carthusia, Milano and "Il Parco e la Piana di Sesto. Guida alla conoscenza, alla visita, alla tutela." (The Park and Plain of Sesto.

A Guide to its understanding, visits and management" Guidotti S. 1999, Comune di Sesto Fiorentino, which since 2009 is accompanied by a brochure dedicated to the amphibians of the Park.

The Park is also featured on Facebook with a page called "Gli Amici del Piana di Sesto Fiorentino" (The Friends of Sesto Fiorentino Plain), whilst the Park Website is under construction.
