Welcome to our Wetlands Website for Northern Tuscany. The site is divided into three main sections General Information This section covers the common historical, cultural, geophysical and naturalistic points of the area's wetlands. There are also 120 information cards on the most important wetland Flora and Fauna. The Areas This section describes the seven individual wetlands, all protected Nature Reserves or ANPIL. Each wetland has its own detailed map illustrating its particular historical, environmental and naturalistic features together with tourist information on its activities, special events and how to arrange guided tours. Geo-Database Where a "Geographic Information System" is available on-line, that merges two principal functionalities: query of the data-base and map display. Satellite images, that are used to monitor the wet areas, (LANDSAT 5 and 7) are also available on line. Happy surfing!
