Hygrophilous woodland

Since the year of its institution (1995), the protected area has promoted guided tours for school or adult groups within the ANPIL.

At present it is possible to visit the wood between October and May.

Different educational itineraries are available depending on the purpose (primary and secondary schools and groups of adults).

The response of the schools has been largely positive from the start.

A typical trail is a walk along the margins, leaving the entrance to the area and little by little descending to the lowest parts and crossing through the main plant communities one by one (mesophilous wood, hygrophilous wood, reed thickets and sedge beds).

After crossing a wooden bridge, the path ends at an observation hide built on the edges of the water for birdwatching.

The Centro di Educazione Ambientale di Bientina (The Centre for Environmental Education of Bientina), equipped with various apparatus and a library, offers a valid support to the field visit.
