These photographs allow comparison of the leaves of the White Water-lily (Nymphaea alba ) (A), the Fringed Water-lily (Nymphoides peltata ) (B) and Frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae ) (C). Although these plants belong to different systematic groups, they all have the same shaped leaves, adapted to floating on the surface. This is an example of adaptive convergence.
